The New Zealand fisheries management is world class. New Zealand’s focus on sustainable harvest and environmental conscious practices has lead to rigorous fishing controls such as the Quota Management System.
This Quota Management System was introduced in 1986 with aims of conserving major fisheries stocks and to make the seafood industry more efficient. Despite these regulations, there are 130 species commercially fished in New Zealand providing a wide variety for our consumers.
